- Reverse your activity.
While it is extremely important to go for a walk or a jog, when you do these activities in a reverse order, you will find that it has some added advantage. Walking or jogging backwards makes certain parts of your body move which otherwise remains less active.
- Split your outdoor physical activity.
Instead of going for a 45 minutes jog, you can split the activity into 15 minutes each of walking, running and cycling.
- Track your time.
A lot of people spend time sitting without doing any physical activity. If you are one of those, it is high time for you to start tracking your time and find out how much time you spend a day doing nothing. Replace that time with some other physical activity. It could be just for 10 to 15 minutes, but you have to make sure that your time is being utilized in doing something physical.
- Use your phone.
Cell phones have become an integral part of our lives. Use it to your advantage whichever way you can. Make a habit of walking around when you talk on the phone. This can stop you from being lazy and get some activity that can help you stay more fit and active.
- Take the long route.
Consider taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Use your feet when going grocery shopping in your neighbourhood.
- Challenge yourself.
There can be days when you just don’t feel like going out for that long walk. It is those times that test your willpower. Do not let your feelings take over you and stop you from doing the physical activity that is needed for your body.
- Take breaks.
Long continuous hours of work can be tiresome and harmful to your well being. Take 2-minutes break every one or two hours while at work and stretch your body.
